A COLLABORATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

What’s better than advanced learning? How ‘bout advanced learning in a team environment? Lake Nona’s Collaborative Learning Environment—or CLE, as the cool kids call it—is our very own modern education system that enables doctors, professors and businesses to interact with students and residents.

What happens when you put state-of-the-art universities, research facilities, hospitals and primary education, from kindergarten through high school, all in close proximity? What’s that? A genius factory, you say? Close, but we think it will be more like a new model for learning. We’ve even given it an official name and a fancy acronym—Collaborative Learning Environment (CLE). Although, now that you mention it, “genius factory” does have a nice ring to it…

The CLE is the brainchild of the Lake Nona Education Initiative, which itself began in 2007 as a consortium of 70 education professionals representing over 30 institutions working together to design a thoroughly modern education system for Lake Nona. The basic idea of the CLE is to give students and residents the ability to engage in real-time interactions with researchers, doctors, professors and even the businesses at Lake Nona, as well as classrooms and other learning environments across the globe.

Thinking Head

The Education Initiative was also instrumental in bringing state-of-the-art learning tools to the community. A unique collaborative partnership with Promethean, a global leader in advanced classroom technology, is making Lake Nona an educational example for how innovative learning technologies, such as the interactive whiteboard, can be leveraged to create a community where classrooms, offices and homes are able to collaborate seamlessly.

In short, to say learning is important to Lake Nona would be like saying water is wet, the sky is blue or dinosaurs are cool.
